Struggling with your payments? Don’t panic - we can help

Christmas probably seems like a long time ago now. But when you’re on a tight budget, it’s not unusual for your bank balance to continue feeling the effects of the festivities for some time.

payments

Did the financial pressures of the Christmas season cause you to miss a DMP payment? Or did you miss another important payment, or bill? Perhaps you even ended up borrowing a bit extra to see you through.

If so, don’t worry. We know how much of a strain Christmas can put on your finances, and we’re here to help. Here’s what you can do.

If you’ve missed a payment

It’s important to try to keep up with your DMP payments. But we understand it can be difficult to keep on top of everything around Christmas, and we’d never expect you to try and catch up with your payments at the expense of your essential bills.

If you can catch up without affecting the rest of your budget - for example, if you got a little extra money as a Christmas present or holiday bonus – then please do. But if not, there’s no need to worry. A Personal Finance Manager can help you find the best way to keep on top of all your expenses. Just call 0161 413 9552 or text 07533011604.

Similarly, if you skipped an essential bill in December and you now need to pay it, please get in touch. It’s really important you don’t allow arrears to build up on your priority bills. We can help.

If you’ve borrowed more money

It’s never a good idea to borrow more money while you’re on a DMP. But we understand that sometimes it happens.

It’s important that you tell us about it. Otherwise, you might struggle to pay off another debt in addition to keeping up your DMP payments. We can add the additional debt to your DMP and ask your existing lenders to accept a little bit less. (Don’t forget that this will increase the remaining term of your DMP.) Just get in touch using the contact details above.

If things have changed

It’s not unusual for the Christmas period to put extra pressure on your finances in the short term. But if you’ve had a longer-term change in your circumstances that means your income will be lower, or your expenses will be higher, for more than just one month, it’s important that you let us know. Your DMP won’t work unless it’s affordable for you. And we want your DMP to succeed! Again – get in touch using the details above. We’re here to help.

Remember, if you have any problems resulting from going over budget at Christmas, just give us a call on 0161 413 9552 or text 07533011604 . We can help you keep your DMP on track this year.
