If you’ve missed a payment

It’s important to try to keep up with your DMP payments. But we understand it can be difficult to keep on top of everything around Christmas, and we’d never expect you to try and catch up with your payments at the expense of your essential bills.

If you can catch up without affecting the rest of your budget - for example, if you got a little extra money as a Christmas present or holiday bonus – then please do. If you’ve borrowed more money

It’s never a good idea to borrow more money while you’re on a DMP. But we understand that sometimes it happens.

It’s important that you tell us about it. Otherwise, you might struggle to pay off another debt in addition to keeping up your DMP payments. We can add the additional debt to your DMP and ask your existing lenders to accept a little bit less. (Don’t forget that this will increase the remaining term of your DMP.) If things have changed

It’s not unusual for the Christmas period to put extra pressure on your finances in the short term. But if you’ve had a longer-term change in your circumstances that means your income will be lower, or your expenses will be higher, for more than just one month, it’s important that you let us know.
