Optimism for future income amongst Britons
The research was carried out by WIN, an international network of pollsters, who interviewed members of the public from 17 nations about their views on a range of issues, from the state of their personal finances to the state of the economy.
In terms of income expectations, Britain ranked tenth amongst the nations, with 75% of respondents saying that they did not expect their incomes to fall in the next year.
Britain also ranked relatively highly on attitudes to homebuying, with 28% of respondents believing that now is a good time to buy a home.
A spokesperson for debt management company Gregory Pennington said: “It may come as a surprise that relatively few people expect their income to fall, given the current economic situation, but it suggests levels of confidence that could have a positive impact on the economy in the future.
“Of course, there are still 25% of respondents who believe their incomes could fall, which shows that the economic problems are having a noticeable effect. We urge anyone who finds themselves experiencing financial difficulties, especially serious problems with debt, to seek expert debt advice.”
